Easy Pumpkin Facial Mask Recipe

I love facial masks and try to have a pampering session each week where I give myself a manicure, moisturize my hair and relax with a facial and an herbal tea. Sometimes I buy facials from the store and sometimes I make my own.

You can begin with a fresh pumpkin from the garden or farmer’s market if you want. If time is an issue, a can of cooked pumpkin will work just as well. Please make sure that it is NOT pumpkin pie filling. You need 100% pure pumpkin with no additives. Organic is always best to avoid pesticides and chemicals.

How do you make a pumpkin face mask?

This easy pumpkin facial mask couldn’t be simpler to make. Just mix all of the ingredients together and apply it to your face and neck. That’s all there is to it. Relax and enjoy.

Is pumpkin good for face masks?

Yes, pumpkin is a great choice for a homemade facial. Pumpkin contains antioxidants as well as Vitamins A, C, and E. These help fight damage to your skin as well as wrinkles. If you’re hoping to slow the signs of aging, this is a great choice. Plus, it smells amazing.

Pumpkin oatmeal face mask

Oats have many healing qualities when it comes to skincare. They are very soothing. So, if you want to add oats to this pumpkin facial mask recipe, just stir in a tablespoon of whole oats (not instant or quick) to the final mixture. Then, apply it to your face.

A fun mask for kids

If you want to get the kids in one the fun, just tell them you are making a pumpkin guts face mask. You can skip the apple cider vinegar in theirs if you want to. Then, just have a mommy and me afternoon and enjoy giving each other a facial.

How long does this mask stay good?

I would not make this mask ahead of time. You’ll get the most benefit from the ingredients if they are used fresh. You can make it up a few hours ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator.

But, it will probably best less of a shock to your system if you apply it to your face and neck while it is still warm.

Can you use canned pumpkin?

You should use fresh cooked pumpkin for the most benefits for your skin. You can use canned if you absolutely don’t have fresh, but you’ll see more benefits from fresh. I’d recommend you use organic canned pumpkin to avoid any bad ingredients that might be in the canned version.

But, please do not use pumpkin pie filling which is not the same thing. Pie filling is loaded with sugar and won’t help your skin.

Can you use the little pumpkins?

If it is an actual pumpkin and not a gourd, it does not matter what size it is. Just make sure it’s a pumpkin and not a decorative gourd as they may not have the same benefits.

One of the reasons that this easy pumpkin facial mask recipe is a favorite is that pumpkin has so many beneficial qualities. Pumpkin is high in both Vitamins A and C which help soothe and soften your skin and prevent damage from free radicals.

Pumpkin also has natural enzymes that help to soften and remove dead skin cells. You can certainly buy a face mask from the store that has pumpkin enzymes in it but this is much easier and less expensive.

    • Hi Shelley - Mini pumpkins are edible so you can use the smaller ones or the larger. You can definitely use canned pumpkin if you prefer. Always glad to share!
