If you’re wondering about the history behind Cinco de Mayo, it’s a holiday that celebrates the date of the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. It’s often referred to as Mexican Independence Day. One of the best ways to celebrate Cinco de Mayo is by enjoying a few of your favorite Mexican foods. Here are some fun facts you didn’t know about Cinco de Mayo.

So, what kind of entertainment do you have planned for Cinco de Mayo? You can send everyone outside to break a pinata and see what kind of goodies they’ll get. Play some Mariachi music or put a movie on the television. I recommend The Book of Life for the kids and La Bamba for the adults. My husband thinks you should all watch Nacho Libre so give that one a try too.
