What is football? An amazingly fascinating game. And if you think you don’t understand football, football teams, football strategy, this is the book for you.

A 30-year veteran NFL broadcaster, Mark Oristano breaks down the complex (but not confusing) game in humorous detail. You’ll learn offense from defense, touchdowns from field goals, and you’ll get a whole list of “Cool Things to Say During the Game.” Not to mention a number of stories about NFL legends like Tom Landry, Earl Campbell and more.

The rules of football become crystal clear. And the next time your friends invite you to watch football on TV with them, you won’t fear kick off, you’ll welcome it.

My thoughts:

The Sportscaster’s Guide to Watching Football offers inside tips on how to watch football in an easy, funny way. It takes a look at offense, defense, and special teams.  For those of you who are like me and know almost nothing about the game, it has cool suggestions of things to say during the game to sound like a real fan.

I admit to knowing absolutely nothing about football but with a son who plays and a husband who watches, I like to sound at least semi literate when responding to them. The author not only gives me the basic information I need but he makes me laugh at the same time. I found it really easy to read and to understand which was perfect for someone with no football knowledge at all.
